Allen Hunsberger has over 25 years of experience in public sector procurement and IT project management. He also retired as from a career as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve.
Allen is currently the Assistant Director, Purchasing and Contracting for the County of San Diego. He works for the Director of Purchasing and Contracting, helping to lead a procurement department that supports the County of San Diego’s operations with an annual procurement spend of nearly two billion dollars.
Allen has a B.A. in Physics from the University of California at San Diego, an MBA from San Diego State University; and is an NIGP Certified Procurement Professional (NIGP-CPP), (SPSD), ISM Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD), and ISM Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.).
Allen has served many roles in procurement related professional associations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Public Purchasing Officers (CAPPO), serving on the Leadership Development Committee for the Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP), and serving on many conference committees and workgroups.
Most of all, Allen enjoys learning about the field of public sector procurement and sharing that knowledge with his peers. He has spoken on numerous topics including federal compliance, electronic procurement technology, bid protests, and procurement card reconciliation.
